It’s June. Which means upgrading your IT setup makes financial sense and takes away stress.
If you’re a business owner, operations manager or just the person who hears, “This laptop’s too slow!” every day, EOFY is your chance to fix it, before it becomes a real problem.
EOFY allows you to finally replace outdated models, not because they’re broken, but because they are quietly costing you time, focus and productivity, and you can be eligible for a tax benefit.
EOFY asset write-off is still available, but don’t wait
June 30 is the deadline for small and medium businesses to claim asset write-offs on hardware purchases.
That means new laptops, desktops, or even servers could be written off as part of this financial year, before they become next year’s headache.
And, while it’s tempting to wait until the final week of June, supply delays are real, especially for specific device models or bulk orders, so our advice is to start now and skip the scramble.
Still using Windows 10? The clock is ticking…
Don’t get us wrong, this isn’t about upgrades for the sake of shiny new gear.
Did you know Windows 10 will be unsupported after October 14, 2025, and this means no more security updates or protection? Microsoft is phasing out support for the operating system, and there’s a risk your business will be exposed if you don’t act soon.
Yes, you can upgrade the system on your current devices, but not every computer running Windows 10 will be eligible for a Windows 11 upgrade. Some machines (especially ones older than three to four years) won’t make the cut.
The result? While you might be planning for a quick upgrade, you may need a complete device replacement instead. So why wait until crunch time? Our advice is simple and clear: replace ageing Windows 10 devices before it’s urgent.
Make your smart tech moves now, while you can look around for good deals and lean into the EOFY.
Here’s what smart teams are doing this month
- Checking which devices are Windows 11 compatible (and which ones aren’t).
- Prioritising replacements for older hardware while tax incentives still apply.
- Scheduling upgrades early to avoid an October rush.
- Investing in tech that’ll last another 3 to 5 years instead of patching up older models.
